The General Assembly deliberately decided to focus on research within networks as a central theme for the 2012 position paper Future by Research. Inspired by this decision and guided by the Leibniz Association’s interest the Joint Science Conference agreed to implement a new competitive funding line for Leibniz Research Alliances and Leibniz ScienceCampi.
The funding line strategic networks is designed to support research networks among member institutes and with external partners, especially universities. It comprises two funding instruments: Leibniz Research Alliances and Leibniz ScienceCampi. Proposals for both types of projects will be reviewed in a competitive procedure. Scientific criteria and the potential strategic and structural impact of the respective project will serve as the basis for the funding decisions.
The Senate Strategic Committee will prepare suggestions for the senate’s funding decisions.
