Climate researcher meets Swedish activist
On the occasion of the 50th Earth Day, Johan Rockström talks to Greta Thunberg about how to stay brave in Corona times and what the virus has to do with the climate crisis.

On Earth Day, 22 April 2020, Greta Thunberg and Johan Rockström will meet for a digital conversation about courage, solidarity and opportunities in times of crisis streamed from the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm. The call will be broadcast live for a global audience and available for embedding at this link. This year marks 50 years since Earth Day was first organised to highlight major environmental challenges in the world.
Greta Thunberg is a Swedish climate and environmental activist who encourages people to listen to science and inspires young people around the world to rise up for the climate. Johan Rockström is professor of Earth System Science and Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany.
Greta Thunberg will be at the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm for the conversation and Johan Rockström will join the call from his desk in Potsdam. Gustav Källstrand, Nobel Prize expert at the museum, will moderate the conversation that will be produced by Nobel Media.
The Nobel Prize Museum has been closed since 20 March due to Covid-19, but continues to invite to interesting conversations digitally with various experts where the focus is on paying attention to how science makes a difference to peoples’ lives.
