Data Expert Biochemistry/Enzymology (m/f/d)
The position has a salary level up to TV-L 13 according to the qualification. The position is a parental leave replacement offered as full or part time (up to 39.8 hours per week) and is limited to one year.
The Task
The BRENDA enzyme database is the main collection of enzyme functional data available to the scientific community. It is one of the world’s essential databases for scientific research (“core data resource”). As a member of the BRENDA team, you will be responsible for:
- Curation of enzyme-data
- Curation and development of the BRENDA Pathways
- Classification of enzymes
- Contribution to the bi-annual updates
- Development of the BRENDA database with the entire team
- Supervision of external scientists

You offer
- Masters’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy or biology with a background in biological chemistry
- Very good biochemical knowledge with emphasis on enzyme function, reaction equations, metabolic pathways and structural formulas
- Knowledge of relational databases or interest in becoming familiar with them
- Fluent in German and English
- You are communicative, able to work in a team and willing to learn
- You are interested in interdisciplinary work in a dynamic team
The place of employment is at the BRICS, TU Braunschweig, Germany.
