The Independent CBBS Research Group Neurocognitive Development at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology in Magdeburg/Germany

We are looking for a highly motivated

doctoral student (f/m/d)

for a fixed-term position with a salary of TV-L E 13 (65%) commencing 01/10/2020 (earlier would be possible if wished) until 09/2023. The position is part of a bilateral German-French collaboration project "Control of attention in children: Interaction of voluntary and involuntary attention" together with the INSERM Lyon Neuroscience Research Center funded by the Agence National de la Recherche and the German Research Foundation.

Your profile

  • very good Diplom or Master's degree in psychology, cognitive sciences, or related fields
  • interest in the development of cognitive functions in childhood
  • experiences in experimental approaches in psychophysiology, neuroimaging, or behavioral research (e.g. M/EEG, pupillometry, or eye-tracking) are desirable
  • programming experience (preferably MATLAB or Python) are advantageous
  • very good written and oral communication skills in English

Your tasks

  • conduction of EEG, pupillometry, and behavioral studies on attention development, data analysis, presentation of results on scientific conferences, and publication of results in international peer-reviewed journals

The Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology in Magdeburg is an internationally renowned center for learning and memory research. The research group focuses on the development of attention, memory and perception in typically and atypically developing children.
