Full Professorship for Implementation Research (m/f/d)

This position with the code number FK03-225/3 is to be filled for 5 years, starting 1st July 2020. Delimitation can be made after a positive evaluation.

What we offer:

The BNITM is a member of the Leibniz Association. With more than 270 employees, it is Germany’s largest institution for research, health care and training in the area of tropical diseases and emerging infectious diseases.

Area of responsibility:

  • Lead of a new research department to be founded at BNITM
  • Establish a new section at BNITM with supporting research groups
  • Participation in University teaching in implementation research with a focus on infection control
  • Establish a competence network for implementation research
  • Close collaboration with departments and working groups of BNITM and UKE and other faculties at the University of Hamburg
  • Develop an internationally competitive research program in the field of implementation research in infection control
  • Development of implementation research at the BNITM’s partner institutions in Africa and other institutions

Teaching obligation

2 SWS (weekly hours per semester) according to the teaching regulations of the Hamburg Universities (LVVO).

Your profile:

  • According to § 15 of the Hamburg University Act of 3rd July 2014, as amended
  • University degree, doctorate, extensive experience in the conduction of studies in Africa as well as habilitation (German eligibility for professorship) or equivalent achievements, a junior professorship or a corresponding position at an academic institution
  • Internationally recognized scientist in the field of implementation research on infection control, preferably in neglected and poverty-related diseases
  • Strong record of publication in high-ranking journals and acquisition of substantial third-party funds
  • Highly skilled in international student and postgraduate teaching
