German Primate Center – Leibniz Institute for Primate Research (DPZ), Göttingen
The German Primate Center (DPZ) - Leibniz Institute for Primate Research in Göttingen conducts basic research on primate biology, molecular biomedicine, and neuroscience. It maintains four field stations and is a competence and reference center for research on and with primates. The DPZ is one of the 96 research and infrastructure facilities of the Leibniz Association.
The Primate Data Science (PRIDAS) platform at the Deutsches Primatenzentrum (DPZ) offers a position as a
Group leader (m/f/d) in the field of data science.
The salary is in accordance with the German public service salary scale (100 % E15 TV-L).
The central task of PRIDAS is developing and providing data science services, processing and analysis methods, and modern management of highly complex multimodal data. In research with primates, this could be the combination of behavioral, physiological, imaging, and genetic data. Such data sets allow categorically novel questions and scientific approaches.
The group leader will be responsible for the organizational and scientific aspects of the PRIDAS platform, including developing data management plans and advancing open science.
Networking with external cooperation partners and providing the developed methods and standards are strategic goals of the DPZ and the Göttingen Campus.
The Candidate ideally fulfills the following requirements:
- PhD (or equivalent) in data science, informatics, bioinformatics, biology or a similar field and some years of postdoc experience
- Profound experience with analytical and universal programming languages
- Evidence for leadership skills
- Very good communication skills and a service-oriented attitude
- High motivation to collaborate across scientific disciplines
- Excellent English skills (written and spoken)
