‘Forschungsgesellschaft für Arbeitsphysiologie und Arbeitsschutz e.V. Dortmund’ (legal entity name) is a research institution institutionally funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is the sponsor of ’Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors at TU Dortmund’ (IfADo). IfADo explores the risks and potentials of modern work in interdisciplinary approaches. We combine the disciplines of Ergonomics, Immunology, Toxicology, Psychology & Neurosciences.

As part of a succession plan, we are looking for a

Head of the Library, Documentation, Publication Department (m/f/d)

The position is initially limited to 2 years with the option of an indefinite extension.

Your tasks:

  • Management and further development of the academic library including the documentation and publication area. Providing, evaluating and further developing the services and research support services of the library and the documentation and publication area
  • Provision of literature for academic staff
  • Specialist advice and teaching of information skills
  • Creation of information materials and tutorials (Participation in the “Arbeitskreises Bibliotheken und Informationseinrichtungen der Leibniz Gemeinschaft is desired)
  • Negotiating and managing licenses
  • Acquisition, inventory, cataloging and provision of physical and electronic resources
  • Support of the library system (OCLC, Bibliotheca plus, OPEN)
  • Budget management in compliance with budgetary regulations
  • Management and dissemination of literature published by IfADo employees
  • Maintenance, adaptation and further development of software used
  • Documentation activities (e.g. annual report, performance-oriented calculation of funds, data queries, collection of in-house research information and corresponding preparation)
  • Editorial work on the institute's own open access journal (EXCLI Journal) using the OJS software

Your profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information and Science Management or Library and Information Management or a comparable field of study
  • Knowledge of library and information science, documentation and information management
  • License management of e-resources
  • Knowledge of research information systems
  • Experience in research data management
  • Experience in science management (to support the assistant director)
  • Experience in bibliometrics and knowledge of statistics
  • Very good IT skills in application and development
  • Very good written and spoken English skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a structured manner
  • Intrapersonal skills (judgment, critical thinking and problem-solving skills)
  • Interpersonal skills (ability to communicate, cooperate and work in a team)
  • Very good handling of MS Office products

We offer:

  • A full-time position with currently 39.83 hours per week
  • Remuneration according to the TV-L depending on personal requirements up to EG 11
