As of the next possible date, the LIV is looking for a highly motivated and creative

IT-Network Specialist for High Performance Computing in full time/part-time (d/m/w)

to work on building and maintaining a new technology platform for scientific computing as part of the initiative ‘Viral Data Science’:

The aim of the initiative ‘Viral Data Science' is to complement the rapid technological development in the LIV working groups and technology platforms as well as the continuously growing data volumes with a science-driven, central infrastructure for scientific computing that brings together complex data volumes, stores them sustainably and analyses them in a structured manner.

Your responsibilities

  • Setup and further development of the infrastructure for a high-performance computing cluster with a storage system
  • Administration, installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance and further development of the server and network infrastructure, workstations and peripherals
  • Hardware and scientific software setup
  • Interaction with users, platform coordinator and IT-department
  • Create an environment to support machine learning software
  • analysis and elimination of system malfunctions & emergency support on site
  • Ensuring operational availability and IT security; knowledge and implementation of regulations, regular audits, monitoring of the current threat situation, etc.

Our requirements

  • Completed academic studies (certified Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science or a comparable field of study or comparable qualification with significant professional experience (several years)
  • Strong experience in system administration
  • Very good programming skills & Linux knowledge
  • Existing knowledge in the AI environment would be an advantage
  • Independent, conscientious and structured working style
  • Good German & English proficiency (working language is English)
