Junior/Senior Researcher (f/m/d)

in Educational Measurement(Maternity and parental leave cover)

The Leibniz-Institute for Educational Trajectories e.V. (LIfBi) is an independent infrastructure facility conducting empirical educational research and associated with the University of Bamberg. LIfBi is responsible for operating the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS). The main task of this long-term project is the provision of representative data on competence development and educational trajectories in Germany.

Your work environment:

You are working in a team of about 190 employees with academic and non-academic work focus at our location in Bamberg. The research unit Educational Measurement focuses on the measurement and analysis of psychological characteristics which are important for applied educational research. This includes, most notably, research on the measurement of latent (unobservable) characteristics and research on psychological methods in large scale assessments.

Your tasks:

  • Scaling of competenc tests using item response theory
  • Test development
  • Documentation and training
  • Academic research and publication

Your profile:

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, empirical educational research)
  • Doctoral degree or finishing of a doctoral study in the near future
  • Very good knowledge on item response theory
  • Very good knowledge of statistical software (e.g., R)
  • Interest in scientific research on psychologcial assessment and psychometrics
  • Publication experience in international, peer-reviewed journals are beneficial
