To conduct a research project within the Research Institute for Social Cohesion (Forschungsinstitut Gesellschaftlicher Zusammenhalt), the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) Member of the Leibniz Association is offering a

PhD Position (f/m/d)

(Doctoral Researcher, 75%)

assigned to the Department of Structural Change and Productivity, starting as soon as possible. The contract will be limited to three years, an extension by one year is possible. The place of employment is Halle (Saale).

You will contribute to the project “The role of firms for regional wage inequality and mobility”, which is part of the Research Institute for Social Cohesion and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. You will be part of a dynamic team of economists regularly publishing its work in renowned international journals. Your profile/Your motivation

You hold a high-quality master degree in economics or related fields and have a solid background in microeconometrics and ideally some experience with empirical work. You have a strong interest in labor and regional economics, you are willing to work on interdisciplinary research questions, possess the skills to present complex questions in English, and work independently and well organised. You are open to get in touch with the national and international scientific community and to cooperate with other IWH researchers. Participation in the IWH Doctoral Programme in Economics (IWH-DPE) and the Central-German Doctoral Program in Economics (CGDE), which IWH organises jointly with neighboring universities, is obligatory.
