The Research Group Comparative Neuroscience at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology in Magdeburg (Germany) seeks a

PhD student/doctoral student (f/m/d)

to study the neuronal basis of auditory short term memory in monkeys. This post is for a 3-year fixed-term period with a salary of TV-L E 13 (65%). The start of employment is flexible. Your task

You will train macaque monkeys on auditory tasks, perform microelectrode recordings from the auditory cortex, apply direct electrical brain stimulation and use computational approaches to analyze the data.

Your profile

  • completed university degree (master, diploma or similar qualification) in neuroscience, physics, biology, psychology, engineering or similar discipline
  • experience in microelectrode recordings from the brain, in animal training and in quantitative (statistical and programming) methods to analyze the data
  • independent, self-reliant and dedicated style of work
