For a new project on macroeconomic impacts of climate finance PIK is offering a

Post-doctoral researcher position (m/f/d)

 (Position number: 33-2022-Postdoc-CLIMVEST)

in the field of Economics and Finance, starting on 01.10.2022 or later.

The position is funded for 2 years with an option for an extension. Remuneration is in accordance with the German public tariff scheme (TV-L Brandenburg), salary group E 13. This is a full-time position with a weekly working time of 40 hours per week. Appointment is conditional on approval by the funding agency. The position can be filled on a part-time basis.

Combating the global climate crisis requires a massive mobilisation and redirection of investment flows. Sustainable finance has thus been heralded as a game changer – but how much can sustainable finance contribute to achieving climate goals? Does shifting investment portfolio towards climate-friendly assets have an impact on CO2 emissions and the transition towards a low-carbon economy? How do preferences for sustainable finance form and evolve? If you are fascinated by these topics and enjoy applying economic modelling to find answers, you might be the person we are searching for!

Key responsibilities:

  • research the macroeconomic impacts of climate-friendly finance
  • model capital markets with traditional and climate-friendly investors in a production economy
  • investigate the emergence and dynamics of investor groups with preference for climate-friendly assets
  • participate in project and stakeholder meetings and science-society dialogue
  • present results at international conferences and publish results in academic journals

Requirements:

  • PhD in Economics or Finance and experience in peer-reviewed publication
  • training in formal, quantitative methods
  • excellent analytical skills and expertise in theoretical and applied/numerical modeling
  • a strong motivation and good organizational skills
  • team-oriented, strong oral communication and writing skills
