The Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) is a multidisciplinary area studies research center in Regensburg. IOS explores the historical, economic, and political developments of Eastern and South-eastern Europe in a transnational and comparative perspective. It pursues research in two main research fields: processes of (de-)institution­alization; inequality and mobility. In 2017, IOS joined the Leibniz Association, one of the leading associations of research institutions in Germany and as such, is funded jointly by the Free State of Bavaria and the Federal Government. IOS closely cooperates with the University of Regensburg. Together, they have established the Leibniz-Science Campus “Europe and America in the Modern World”.

To strengthen our team of research economists, we invite applications for a full-time position as

PostDoc in Economics (f/m/d)

(TVL-E 13)

starting on September 1st 2021 or a later date to be agreed.

Remuneration is based on the German TV-L public pay scale, salary group E 13. The appoint­ment is initially for three years, with the possibility of an extension for another three years.

We invite applications from researchers with their main research area in labor economics, who are willing to do research on labor markets in Eastern Europe, in particular Poland, Russia and Ukraine.

Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in economics (or be close to completion), research experience and strong econometric skills. Prior experience with survey design is desirable. A publication record in internationally peer-reviewed journals is an asset, as is an interest in multidisciplinary co-operation.

The successful candidate will present research results at conferences and publish articles in international peer-reviewed journals. IOS encourages and supports habilitations at the University of Regensburg. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to the further acquisition of third-party projects by designing, implementing, and leading projects in her/his area of research.

IOS, together with the University of Regensburg, provides an attractive academic environment. The city of Regensburg is a charming location in southern Germany (Bavaria), registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
