PostDoc/Researcher (m/f/d)

Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF)

The Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden is a non-university research institute and a member of the Leibniz Association. It has gained world-wide reputation for its application-oriented basic research on new polymer materials for future technologies, e.g. in the fields of energy, mobility, health, sustainability, and communication, and it supports the transfer of research results into application. The research work is carried out on the basis of state-of-the-art technical equipment in interdisciplinary cooperations between the five institutes of the IPF and embedded in numerous national and international cooperations. The IPF promotes young scientists and is certified as a family-friendly employer according to the Audit berufundfamilie®. The institute currently employs around 500 persons.

The IPF-Institute of Physical Chemistry and Polymer Physics, the Department Polymer Structures offers a Position for a

PostDoc/Researcher (m/f/d)

in the area of Organic Synthesis.

Field of activity:

The offered position is part of the project ESiM (Energy Storage in Molecules), an interdisciplinary European research collaboration funded by the European Innovation Council (EIC). Target of ESiM is to investigate stable excited states of molecules adsorbed on a surface. By combining molecular design and synthesis with scanning tunneling microscope experiments, we aim to set the basis for a novel approach to energy storage, based on storing energy in single molecules.

The offered position is tasked with the synthesis, chemical characterisation and optimisation of organic molecules which will be further used by other members of the consortium. You will be part of the Functional Electronic Materials (FEM group), a young and enthusiastic research group with a strong focus on the synthesis of electronically active materials. In an international, dynamic and supportive environment, you will work closely with the other members of the FEM team and the ESiM partners, including regular online and in-person meeting. ESiM and the FEM group are dedicated to the success of our co-workers, and mentoring activities will support you in your further career choices.

We look for a candidate (m/f/d) with a Ph.D. ideally in (organic) chemistry or molecular electronics. Hands-on experience with organic synthesis and characterisation are a must. Ideally, you will also have experience with the synthesis of conjugated heterocycles, the characterisation of H-bonded systems, organic electronics or molecular electronics.

Salary:According to German pay grade TV-L EG 13

Terms: 40 weekly hours (Fulltime)

Contract:The position is fixed-term for 1 year, with the option to extend for up to 2 years total

Starting date: 1.11.2022
