Postdoctoral Researcher (f,m,d) in plant heat stress adaptation

The Leibniz-Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) aims for excellence in horticultural research and related plant, environmental and social sciences. IGZ is based in Großbeeren close to Potsdam/Berlin and is a member of the Leibniz Association (WGL). IGZ conducts strategic and international research for the sustainable production and use of vegetables, contributing to food security, human well-being and the conservation of natural resources. At IGZ, researchers from different disciplines work together on core-funded and grant-funded projects, in collaboration with national and international research partners.
The scientist will be part of the research group “Stress and Developmental Integration”. Our group is interested to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the developmental adaptations of plants to recurring temperature stresses. This knowledge will help us to contribute to the breeding of climate-resilient crops.

Employment will be initially for two years. The salary will be based on qualification and research experience according to the wage agreement TV-L, up to EG 13, full time. The position is suitable for part-time work.
The project aims to investigate how plant developmental pathways respond to temperature changes and how plants remember temperature stress to become more resilient at the cellular level. We are specifically focused on the shoot apical meristem of both Arabidopsis thaliana and tomato (Solanum lycopersicum).
- designing of assays to analyze the dynamics and responsiveness of gene expression in response to temperature
- identifying the transcriptional regulatory network for heat stress in the meristem
- working with other team members to analyze and investigate experimental datasets
- writing scientific publications and presentation of results to an international scientific audience
We are looking for candidates with
- a Ph.D. in plant biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics
- experience in developing and implementing to study temperature responses
- knowledge and experience in cloning, ChIP-seq and assays for transcriptional regulation
- experience in working with Arabidopsis and/or tomato plants
- very good knowledge of English (both oral and written)
- high degree of responsibility, accuracy, and ability to focus and prioritize
- readiness to integrate into an international working environment
