The Leibniz Institute for Composite Materials (IVW) GmbH is one of the world's leading institutions in the field of composite materials. We investigate and develop the entire value chain of composite materials "from the scientific basis to the component".

To strengthen our team in the „Prozesssimulation“we are looking for a Research Assistant (m/f/d)

Your task

• Modeling and simulating the processing behavior of fiber reinforced polymer composite materials
• Development and further enhancement of material characterization and finite element-based simulation methods
• Material modeling for fiber-reinforced polymer composite manufacturing processes
• Characterization of materials and components under the influence of variable process parameters (e.g., strain rates, temperatures, or power consumption)
• Experimental and simulation-based investigation of materials and components
• Integration into a dedicated team of scientific staff, laboratory engineers, and technicians
• Point of contact for staff and students in the assigned program areas
• Proactive monitoring of established actions and deadlines

Your profile

• High motivation, initiative, and ability to work in a team
• Independent working style
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Very good English language skills, both written and spoken
• Basic knowledge in the field of polymers and composite materials
• Basic knowledge in finite element simulation and other mathematical tools for model creation is desirable
• Above-average completed university degree (U/TU) in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, aerospace engineering, process engineering, plastics/polymer engineering, or a related field
