Research Associate (m/f/d)
Leibniz Institute DSMZ–German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures, Braunschweig
The Leibniz Institute DSMZ-German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH, Braunschweig offers the position of a
Research Associate (m/f/d)
in the Department Human and Animal Cell Cultures. The project is funded by the DFG for 2 years with a salary level according to TV-L E 13 (65%). Project and position are suited to conduct a PhD thesis.
In this project establishment of DNA methylation at the PWS-SRO should be studied in a cellular stem cell model. DNA methylation at the PWS-SRO regulates imprinted gene expression at the Prader-Willi/Angelman syndrome locus on human chromosome 15. It is hypothesized that transcriptional read-through is needed for acquisition of DNA methylation in the female germ line. This process should be modeled in human induced pluripotent stem cells by employing CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, stem cell differentiation and analysis of gene expression and DNA methylation.
For this task we seek a highly motivated person with expertise molecular biology and cell culture. Requirements for the position are a Master’s degree biology, molecular biology stem cell biology, or a comparable discipline. The position requires a background in molecular biology (PCR, cloning, analysis of gene expression) and an interest in human disease and epigenetics. Candidates with hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture techniques will be preferred, knowledge of human iPS cell culture would be a plus.
Participation and presenting in the weekly department seminar is expected. PhD candidates will have access to the graduate school of the TU Braunschweig and are encouraged to participate in international meetings.
