The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development e.V. in Dresden advertises the following position at the earliest possible date for the duration of two years

Researcher in Regional Economic Modelling (m/f/d)

in a project funded by the German Ministry for Science and Education "Joint platform for climate-adapted action at local and district level in Mittelgebirge region (Germany)"

TV-L E 13, (100%, 40 hours per week).

The Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER) in Dresden is a non-university research centre in the field of the spatial sciences and a member of the Leibniz Association. We investigate the conditions and dynamics of spatial sustainability transformations and their acceleration in the context of the global ecological crisis. The advertised position is allocated to the research area "Economic aspects of ecological urban and regional development".

Project description

Together with the representatives of three districts (Landkreise) and selected sample communities, the project will develop an integrative and action-oriented approach for the determination and evaluation of capacities for adaptation to climate change for low mountain regions (Mittelgebirge) and assemble them in actor-differentiated decision support tools for direct use in planning and decision-making practice. Project lead partner is Technische Universität Dresden.

Position description

The key task would be to conduct empirical and modelling work in order to evaluate regional economic impacts of climate adaptation measures in the study area (e.g. sectoral impacts, employment, public expenditure). The envisaged methodology for impact assessment is regional input-output modelling or regional computable general equilibrium modelling (depending on actual data availability). Specific adaptation measures are to be selected jointly with the project partners. Project work would also involve the development of scenarios for impact assessment jointly with the project partners from IOER and from the Technische Universität Dresden. Further tasks include data collection, documentation of work progress, presentation of results in project meetings, communication with project partners and project officers from the ministry. The project work should lead to high-level academic publications.
