Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), Müncheberg
The mission of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) as a nationally and internationally active research institute is to deliver solutions for an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable agriculture – together with society. ZALF is a member of the Leibniz Association and is located in Müncheberg (approx. 35 minutes by regional train from Berlin-Lichtenberg). The institute also maintains locations in Dedelow and Paulinenaue.
The position will be located in the Research Platform “Data Analysis and Simulation” within the Working Group “Multi-Scale Modelling” under the project Leibniz-Lab “Systemic Sustainability” (LL SYSTAIN) aiming to tackle 'biodiversity, climate, agriculture and food' as a common field of action and conflict together with societal actors.

Scientist (f/m/d)
Your tasks:
- develop Hybrid modelling solutions using process-based and data-driven models for estimating the impacts of agriculture and food on climate change, terrestrial/aquatic biodiversity and other environmental dimensions
- analyze impacts of environmental transgressions on the agri-food system, e.g. by decreases in crop production due to massive irrigation lowering irrigation water availability at multiple scales
Your qualifications:
- MSc level knowledge in agricultural, biological, environmental, or geosciences
- expertise in Remote sensing applications
- knowledge of big data integration
- development and application of deep learning models
- understanding of hybrid modelling concepts
- python programming skills are required
- as an internationally research institution, located in Germany we require good to very good written and spoken English skills and the willingness to take part in further training as part of the language courses in German offered internally
