Student Research Assistant (m/f/d)

(hourly payment 12,00 € - 12,52 €, 9 hours per week, temporary)

As part of the BMBF funded research project Sozialkartographie, data sets, maps and archival material from the postwar period are brought together to explore the postwar reconstruction of selected cities and the effects of the transformation on their later socioeconomic profiles.

Your tasks will be:

  • Archival search (focus: Hamburg): contacting city archives/ departments, searching for project-relevant material and entering data in spreadsheets
  • Understanding of geographical datasets: searching for and organizing socioeconomic statistical data, mapping data with Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
  • Editing documents: proof reading and formatting texts
  • Supporting the organisation of meetings / conferences

Your profile:

  • Comfortable with handling socio-economic data
  • Geographical Information System (GIS) skills
  • Excellent English and German language skills
  • Flexible, independent and proactive worker
  • Willingness to travel, especially to Hamburg
