Student Research Assistant – Designer Glycans (m/f/d)

The Designer Glycans independent junior research group is looking for a talented
Student Research Assistant (“wissenschaftliche Hilfskräfte mit Abschluss Bachelor”) (m/f/d)
who is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in biology, biochemistry, or related topics. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative, international team that is developing synthetic biology tools to modulate the plant extracellular matrix (Voiniciuc, et al., 2019, PNAS).
Expectations and Benefits
Applicants should be:
- Highly motivated to learn new techniques and to deliver results
- Demonstrate strong academic performance or laboratory experience
- Good oral and written communication skills in English
Prior experience with plant or yeast metabolic engineering, or analytical techniques (e.g. chromatography) would be an asset. These methods are not essential if the candidate is detail-oriented and eager to learn.
The start date, work hours and tasks are flexible and will be tailored with the selected candi-date to maximize their contributions and complement their study schedule. Our ongoing pro-jects combine molecular biology, carbohydrate biochemistry, and multiple eukaryotic organ-isms (from yeast to plants). Our laboratory at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry of-fers state-of-the-art infrastructure and long-term research opportunities.
