Team leader (f/m/d) Scientific machine learning for low-temperature plasma research

We are seeking a highly motivated team leader to join our Plasma Modelling and Data Science group at the earliest possible date at INP in Greifswald.
TEAM LEADER (F/M/D)
SCIENTIFIC MACHINE LEARNING FOR LOW-TEMPERATURE PLASMA RESEARCH
Full-time appointment (40 hours/week), target salary according to TV-L (Gross salary range depending on professional experience, see renumeration table 2023)
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in scientific machine learning with expertise in simulations and data science. As the team leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of scientists and engineers in developing cutting-edge machine learning models, software solutions and modern data analysis techniques in the field of low-temperature plasma physics.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a team of scientists and engineers in the development of scientific machine learning models, research software solutions and data science techniques for research and development in low-temperature plasma physics and plasma medicine.
- Mentor and guide the team members in their professional development, providing guidance on scientific machine learning, software engineering, and data science.
- Collaborate with other research programmes at INP and with external partners to design and implement efficient algorithms, software tools and data pipelines to process and analyse data from experiments and simulations.
- Develop and maintain high-quality research data management solutions to ensure reproducibility and scalability of research findings.
- Write grant applications for funding and further development of the aforementioned research topics.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and research software engineering, apply them to low-temperature plasma physics research and present research results on conferences, workshops and in peer-reviewed publications.
YOUR PROFILE:
- PhD in engineering, physics, computer science or a related field with a strong track record in developing and using machine learning algorithms in the field of low-temperature plasma science.
- Strong expertise in research software engineering and simulations in the field of plasma science; familiarity with research data management is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Project management skills and experience in grant writing is highly desirable.
- Fluency in German and English language.
