University Professor - salary grade W 3

(limited to 5 years with option to extend permanently)

for the field of "Integrated Broadband and High Frequency Circuits".

Faculty IV, Reference number: IV-313/20

(starting at the earliest possible/limited to 5 years with option to extend permanently/closing date for applications 23/10/20)

Working field: Research in the field of integrated circuits for highest frequencies or bit rates, both in the basic as well as in the development and application area.

The following topics are to be given special consideration:

  • Bipolar and BiCMOS circuit techniques for high bit rates and frequencies
  • Integrated circuits of fiber optic communication
  • Conception and design of complex HF and millimeter wave systems
  • Integrated circuits of wireless communication, millimeter wave, THz- and radar sensors
  • Hybrid EPIC circuits for novel applications in broadband optical communications and highfrequency electronics"

In addition, subject-related teaching tasks are to be assumed in the study courses Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. The teaching obligation at the TU Berlin is 2 SWS.

The "Circuit Design" department, which currently employs around 30 people at the IHP, is headed up in this area. The IHP is an institute of the Leibniz Association in the legal form of a GmbH with a total of more than 300 employees. The IHP's basic and application-oriented research concentrates on the competence fields of system and circuit design, process technology (clean room with BiCMOS process line) and technology-oriented materials research.

Requirements: Fulfilment of the requirements for appointment according to § 100 BerlHG, this includes completed university studies, scientific achievements (doctorate), habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements (scientific publications or equivalent industrial work) as well as educational didactic aptitude.

Teaching experience, aptitude for the technical and disciplinary management of a large working group, research and development in the field of fast integrated circuits, experience in the acquisition and management of research projects are urgently required. Experience with the co-design of chip package and board (PCB) would also be desirable. The willingness to offer teaching in German as well as in English language is also prerequisite. Very good English language skills are required. The willingness to learn German is expected from Non-German speaking applicants.
