The Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) in Tübingen studies the ways in which digital media influence knowledge and communication processes. It conducts application-oriented basic research to describe the role of digital media in the experience and behaviour of individuals and groups, to predict the effects of media use on human perception and behaviour and to derive appropriate interventions. In doing so, the spectrum under consideration ranges from formal to informal educational contexts. Scientists from various disciplines – notably psychology, communication science, neuroscience and computer science – closely work together at the IWM.
