The Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM), founded in 2001, researches how digital media affect knowledge and communication processes and how digital media can be used to optimize said processes. With its approx. 90 scientists, the institute focuses its psychological basic and practice oriented research towards five main application fields: Teaching and Learning with Digital Media in Schools, Teaching and Learning with Digital Media in Universities, Knowledge-related Internet Usage, Knowledge Work with Digital Media, Knowledge Transfer in Museums and Exhibitions.
