Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors (IfADo)

Due to the interdisciplinary approach, IfADo integrates both basic and applied science in the fields of toxicology, immunology, ergonomics as well as psychology and neurosciences.

In this way, we examine basics of molecular, physiological and psychological processes of the liver, the brain, the immune system as well as the musculoskeletal and sensory system.

Our research themes concern people in their technical working environment as well as external and internal factors of wellbeing and performance. We consider our research against the background of demographic changes with regard to the challenge of work and aging. Another focal point of IfADo is the risk assessment of toxic substances based on an understanding of the molecular mechanisms for adverse effects in order to contribute to the safe handling of chemicals. Our research results serve as a basis for recommendations to committees and decision makers.
