Data Protection Policy

The Leibniz Association takes the protection of personal data very seriously. We record, use and store your personal data exclusively in line with the provisions of Germany's Federal Data Protection Act. In principle, our website can be used without providing any personal data. As a rule, personal data are recorded only when you provide us with these voluntarily, e.g. when registering for an event.

IP addresses/cookies/Piwik analytics tool

This website uses Piwik (www.piwik.org), a piece of open-source software for analysing visits to the site. Piwik uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer to help the website analyse how visitors use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is stored by us on our own server in Germany, and not passed on to third parties. Immediately after being processed, the IP address of each visitor is anonymised before being stored.

You may refuse the installation of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; however, please note that if you do this you may not be able to use all the functions of this website. You can also opt out from the use of your data by Piwik by taking the following option. This causes a cookie to be stored in your browser which merely contains the information that none of your personal data may be recorded by Piwik. Previously stored cookies are then deleted. However, should you at any point delete all the cookies in your browser, you may have to renew your opt-out from the use of your data. You can opt out from the use of your data here.

Registering for events/contacting us

When registering for events via the EventManager on our website, the user's information (generally their e-mail, last name and first name) is stored in our event-management software for the purposes of the logistical and administrative organisation of the event, as well as for follow-up questions. The data are not saved for any other purpose, and are not passed on to third parties. This consent can be revoked in writing at any time. However, such a revocation or non-consent means that you cannot take part in the event.

When establishing general contact with the Leibniz Association by email or telephone, the user's data are stored for further processing. The data are not passed on to third parties.

Incorporation of third party services and content

This website incorporates third-party content (e.g. YouTube videos, maps from Google Maps, etc.) from other websites. For this purpose, the third-party provider of this content requires the user's IP address in order to send the content to the browser of the respective user. We endeavour only to use such content where the respective provider uses the IP address exclusively to deliver said content. However, we have no influence on whether the third-party provider saves the IP address e.g. for statistical purposes. Insofar as we are aware of this, we draw the user's attention to it.

Right to information/deletion

You have the right to request information about your personal data stored by us at any time. You also have the right to have your data deleted. Please contact us via info@leibniz-gemeinschaft.de.
