Knowledge and Technology Transfer

Idea. Transfer. Application – three keywords that describe the classical pathway for the exploitation of research results. Excellent basic research at Leibniz institutions generates knowledge, and it is a central objective of the Leibniz Association to apply and transfer this knowledge to industry and society.

There are many facets to knowledge and technology transfer in the Leibniz Association: we advise policy-makers, educate at our research museums, start new businesses, forge new alliances, launch collaborative projects, license and sell patent rights.

Responsibility for knowledge and technology transfer in the Leibniz Association lies with each one of the Leibniz institutions, which embrace this mission in many different ways.

The Leibniz Transfer Department at Leibniz Association headquarters coordinates, advises and supports the Leibniz institutions' activities and provides specific support measures for start-ups, in particular.
