The Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT Rostock) with approx. 300 employees and guests is one of the leading European research institutions in the field of catalysis. LIKAT is a competent partner for the research and development of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts as well as catalytic processes and technologies. LIKATs focus is on application-oriented basic research and applied research. Therefore, it cooperates with industrial companies and research institutes worldwide.
The research group of Udo Kragl and Esteban Mejía in the department of Polymer Chemistry and Catalysis has an opening for a position in this area.
- Development of new silicon-containing monomers and cross-linkers for the preparation of silicones and silicon-containing polymers with tailored properties
- Preparation and characterization of catalysts for silicone cross-linking reactions
- Establishment of recycling methodologies for post-consumer silicone waste
- Writing of high-quality reports, scientific publications, and patents
We are looking for a PhD candidate with a Diploma or Master (or equivalent qualification) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with experience in organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, and catalysis.
Experience in polymer synthesis and characterization is advantageous. We particularly encourage applications from women. A proficient use of written and spoken English is requisite. German knowledge is not require.
We offer a challenging PhD position in an excellent, international environment at the LIKAT Rostock. The position is available from March 1, 2022 and limited to 3 years. Extension is possible upon mutual agreement. Place of work is Rostock. The salary is based on public service rates of the German states (E 13 TV-L, 50%).
