Student helper JAVA programming (w/m/d)

(Reference number: 180 – Java)

At the work group Spatial Ecology and Interactions we develop and use a wide set of ecological models relating to the reaction of coastal organisms to global change and an intensified anthropogenic use of coastal habitats as well as representing basic ecological processes and interactions. Topics include e.g. to spatial competition in coral reefs, changes in sea grass communities in relation to temperature change and nutrient impact, food web interactions and evolutionary processes. We use agent-based modelling for our approach in which specific organismic traits as well as spatial processes are influential for the outcomes. The models are programmed in JAVA.

Specifically the tasks of the student helper will comprise of:

  • Updating programs to new library versions
  • Adding features to existing programs
  • Assisting with execution of programs

Background of applicants:

  • Experience in programming with JAVA and with build routines (gradle)
  • Experience with version control (git)
  • Experience with SLURM would be an asset

Details of Position:  ca. 40 h/month (working hours are flexible)

Starting date: As soon as possible
