The Heinrich Pette Institute - Leibniz Institute for Experimental Virology (HPI), is committed to research on the biology of different human viruses and pathogenesis of viral diseases (http://www.hpi-hamburg.de). We are looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented student with a diploma/master degree (or equivalent), experience in at least one of the necessary disciplines and techniques thereof (molecular biology, immunology or virology). Experience in immunology and/or multiparameter flow cytometry would be welcome.
Our position is to be filled for up to three years in the “Virus Immunology” group (head: Prof. Marcus Altfeld) with the possibility of extension. Payment and social benefits will be in accordance with the regulations of the German TV-AVH (salary agreement for public service employees).
Work in the research group of Marcus Altfeld focuses on innate and adaptive immune responses against pathogens (http://www.hpi-hamburg.de/en/research-teams/research-units/virus-immunology/). The specific PhD project will study the role of NK cells in liver inflammation and infection within the DFG-funded collaborative research center “liver inflammation” (SFB841).
