The Leibniz Association has sophisticated responsiveness structures for dealing with issues of integrity and is gradually expanding them further to ensure they are fit for purpose.

In conflict situations, employees of the Leibniz institutions can consult the decentralised ombudspersons as a first point of contact, as well as the works council, staff council and equality officers of the institution in question.

At central level, conflicts concerning good scientific practice and allegations of scientific misconduct are dealt with by the central Ombuds Committee. The Leibniz Commission for Research Ethics is the point of contact for questions concerning safety and security and the ethics of research projects, both during the conceptual design stage and during the research itself. To prevent and categorise other potential conflicts, especially those relating to the standards set out in the Guiding Principles for our Actions, the Leibniz Association has also set up an external Advice Centre for Conflict Guidance and Prevention.
