All institutes within the Leibniz Association are eligible to apply.
Applications are submitted via an electronic application system (e-system). The access data is given to the scientific institute directors, who can set up an expression of interest via their user account and then also invite other persons (usually the speaker, the academic coordinator and the main administrative contact) to create their own user accounts and further edit or submit the expression of interest. Full applications are also submitted via the e-system on the basis of submitted expressions of interest.
The Leibniz ScienceCampus is by its nature a regionally defined model, but cooperations beyond the immediate vicinity or even national borders are quite conceivable, depending on the circumstances.
A successful application can receive up to 300.000 euros p.a. from central funds for a Leibniz ScienceCampus in this procedure.
Funding is conditional on binding commitments by the institute and the cooperating university and/or the host state to provide co-funding of a comparable amount, so that a Leibniz ScienceCampus generally has at least 900,000 euros p.a. at its disposal. The appropriateness of the co-financing is examined in the selection procedure and is to be determined on a case-by-case basis. Supplementary financing shares of other participating institutions can be taken into account.
Yes, the draft cooperation agreement can be submitted subsequently until December 2023. A signed cooperation agreement should be submitted by the start of the project (= first call for funds).
No. The next application procedure is scheduled for the end of 2025. Leibniz ScienceCampi established/continued in this procedure could start in 2027.
