Expectations for science communication have never been higher: it’s expected to make research transparent and accessible, foster trust in scientific institutions, and engage a wide range of social groups. Yet at the same time, we’re only beginning to understand which communication strategies truly work, how trust is built, and what makes participation meaningful.

The Leibniz Research Network “Evidence-based Science Communication” provides a platform for research into the impact, quality and further development of products and processes in science communication that is theory-driven, methodologically diverse, and grounded in practice. It brings together expertise from educational research, psychology, museum studies, and science communication practice—combining key competencies from both research and application. The goal is to advance the foundations of reflective, effective, and trustworthy science communication—within the Leibniz Association and beyond.
