Monograph publishing fund
The Leibniz Open Access Monograph Publishing Fund supports and finances open access publication of previously unpublished academic monographs, edited volumes or chapters in edited volumes, for which publishing fees are charged – book processing charges (BPC) or book chapter processing charges (BCPC).
The Open Access Monograph Publishing Fund is financed by the Leibniz Association’s Strategy Fund, which runs from 1 July 2019 to 31 December 2024.
It is already in its second funding period and follows on directly from the pilot project, which also developed and tested standards for open access books. Networking with other monograph fund operators is continuing, including through workshops, in the Focus Group on Open Access Monograph Funds and via shared distribution lists.
The Leibniz Open Access Monograph Publishing Fonds is being run by the IDS in collaboration with the DIE, DIPF, IfZ, TIB, WZB, ZBW and ZfL.
The fund is centrally managed by the TIB in Hanover. The TIB registers the applications, the IDS deals with the invoices. The submitted applications are assessed by the project team. Applications may be submitted using our online form. For all monographs, collective works and chapters of collective works funded by the Leibniz Open Access Monograph Publishing Fonds, references are added to LeibnizOpen.
The project team will be happy to answer queries relating to the funding criteria, application process and invoice processing by the publishing fund and any general questions concerning open access by email (monografienfonds(at)leibniz-gemeinschaft.de).
All other fund information and the central application form are available on the TIB website.
