Cooperation with industry
Thanks to the inter- and transdisciplinary expertise of its engineering, scientific and life science institutes, the Leibniz Association is in a position to pursue a deep tech approach – from basic science to applied research – to the value chains of key technologies. This means it can offer partners from industry and society solutions up to technology readiness level 7 (technology that has been tested in an operational environment). Deep tech focuses less on products and services for end users and more on technologies that can only be realised with considerable technological or scientific progress. Key technologies in which the Leibniz Association makes leading contributions include quantum technologies, the hydrogen economy, electronics and photonics, materials sciences, biotechnology and health technologies.
